About the event
The Empire State Aerosciences Museum will hold its monthly Fly-in Breakfast on Saturday, June 18th from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Enjoy an assortment of pancakes, french toast, eggs, sausage, potatoes, juice, coffee, tea, fruit and more. The breakfast is open to the public.
At 10 a.m., local author Larry Lewis, retired Principal Chemist for GE Global Research, will speak about Rex Hamilton, a 96-year-old WWII veteran who served with the 404th Squadron, 11th Army Air Force in the Aleutian Islands in 1945.
Rex's largest battle was with the VA. Rex suffered hearing loss and frostbite injuries, but spent many years proving that he had served and was thus entitled to benefits. The story is told with reference to the bigger historical picture and consequences of the contribution of Rex and the 404th in the war. Multiple award winner, Dr. Lewis established a world-wide reputation in silicones, catalysts and material science. He is also well known locally for his work in community service, particularly the SiCM food pantry.
Fly-In if you would like. Pilots: Tower Frequency 121.3; Ground 121.9. Land at Schenectady County Airport and taxi to Richmor Aviation North. Tell them you are going to ESAM.
