At 10 am, retired Colonel Dan Swift will talk about his involvement in A-10 Operations in the Air War over Serbia. Earning his pilot wings at Williams Airforce base in Chandler, Arizona, he had a 3-year stint as a T-37 instructor and then was assigned to fly the A-10 Thun-derbolt 2. Colonel Swift is a graduate of the Air Force Fighter Weapon School and the Air War College. He flew 40 combat sorties in 1991 in the first Gulf War, Operation Deliberate Force (1995) and the Air War over Serbia and Kosovo (1999). Swift also served as Commander of the A-10, 104th Fighter Wing at Barnes National Guard Base, Westfield, CT, retiring in 2001 after 25 years of active duty. His military decorations include the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaves clusters, the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. Swift also has 10,000 hours of civilian flying time with a twenty-year career at Delta Air Lines flying the Boeing 727, 737, 757 and 767. He retired in 2019 as a Captain flying internationally in the B767.
The Museum is open Friday through Sunday from 10 am – 4 pm. Gallery II and our Airpark (with over 20 planes) is presently open. Gallery I is closed for renovations.
