Bell UH-1 Iroquois (Huey) helicopter

The Huey is an old Warbird who saw service in Vietnam; you can see the patches all over it to repair combat damage. It was built in 1965 specifically as a gunship and would have been equipped with machine guns and rocket pods on each side, with a grenade launcher mount on the nose. Our Huey last flew with the New Jersey National Guard before being decommissioned and arriving here in the 1990s.
Hughes OH-6 Cayuse (Loach) helicopter

The OH-5 Loach was built in 1968 as a light observation Warbird known as a hunter that would fly low and slow searching for the enemy. Our Loach, too, saw service in Vietnam, and finished its active career flying with the New York National Guard out of Albany NY Airport before being donated to ESAM in the 1990s.
McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II jet fighter

ESAM’s F-4 began service in 1965 and served with a number of units, including the 8th Tactical Fighter Squadron/49th Tactical Fighter Wing which was deployed to Thailand during the Vietnam War. In 1972, during this deployment, it was flown by Lt Steven Caine, an ESAM volunteer who then played an active role in restoring this great aircraft. It is also dedicated to two other Air Force aviators who flew it in 1972: Capt Dan Morris (pilot) and Capt Hal Brown (Weapons System Officer). Before coming to ESAM, it finished its career with the New York Air National Guard at Niagara Falls International Airport.
Northrop F-5E Tiger jet fighter

Recognizable from the Top Gun movie, our F-5E Tiger was painted and used a a Russian jet in the movie. The F-5 is an agile and reliable supersonic fighter jet that is still used in the US for training purposes, and was used extensively in the Vietnam War.
Sitting in this iconic aircraft and being photographed by a renowned photographer will be the feature prize in the raffle taking place at the evening’s Movie Extravaganza.
